The rapid ascent of Millennium College of Nursing Sciences, established in June 2022, owes much to the exceptional leadership and qualifications of its current Provost, Mrs. Chisom C. Ezulike. Her impressive credentials have played a pivotal role in driving the institution’s accreditation process and subsequent expansion.

In less than six months, Millennium College of Nursing Sciences achieved accreditation and approval, an accomplishment attributed to the dedication and support of His Grace, the Most Rev’d Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim, PhD, Archbishop of the Province of the Niger, and the Bishop of the Diocese of Awka (Anglican Communion).

Despite being a new institution, the college was granted a quota of 75, an increase from the standard 50, due to its well-equipped facilities and qualified staff. Features such as modern lecture halls, ICT centers, demonstration halls, coastal buses, and a balanced ratio of lecturers contributed to the institution’s success.

Mrs. Ezulike’s leadership and the college’s dedication to innovation were exemplified by their adoption of the Computer Based Training (CBT) method for entrance examinations and Preliminary Training Sessions (PTS). This pioneering approach earned commendation from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), positioning the college as a leader in evaluation methodologies in the Eastern Region.

The institution’s emphasis on modern nursing practices, facilitated by well-equipped demonstration halls and skilled nurse educators, provided students with a competitive edge. Clinical postings at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Hospital, Amaku, and various Health Centers in Awka South LGA enhanced students’ practical experience, attracting high demand from prospective students.

Responding to this increased demand, Millennium College of Nursing Sciences sought resource verification and full accreditation for its Nursing and Midwifery Departments from the NMCN in December 2023. With Mrs. Ezulike at the helm, the college successfully secured an expansion of its quota, increasing the Nursing Department’s allocation from 75 to 120 and the Midwifery Department’s to 100.

Mrs. Chisom C. Ezulike’s qualifications serve as a testament to her dedication to nursing education. She holds a Registered Nurse (RN) certificate and a Registered Midwife (RM) certification from Madonna University, along with a Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) from the same institution. Additionally, she earned a PGDE from Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, a Registered Public Health Nurse (RPN) certificate from Imo State College of Nursing, Orlu, a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Imo State University, and is pursuing a Masters in Midwifery and Child Health (MMCH) at the University of Port Harcourt.
