Champions League: Bayern Humiliates Barcelona in 8 – 2 Win

0

Bayern Munich were just as good as advertised, Barcelona played their worst game ever, and the Blaugrana are out of the Champions League thanks to an 8-2 loss in Lisbon. Bayern dismantled Barça from start to finish, making it look easy against a helpless and hopeless team.

FIRST HALF

The tone was set from the very first minute: Bayern were going to press high with incredible intensity, and Barça showed from the jump they were not capable to deal with the press and constantly gave the ball away to the most dangerous attacking players in Europe right now.

And Bayern took advantage. First Thomas Müller, then after a quick break for a David Alaba own goal that gave Barça fans some hope for about 5 minutes, the onslaught continued: Ivan Perisic, Serge Gnabry and Müller again made it 4-1 to the Germans in just 30 minutes, and the game was over just like that.

Barça showed no fight and had zero creativity with the ball, and the midfield kept giving the ball away time and time again. As we approached halftime Bayern decided to drop their intensity as they knew the game was over, but they still managed to create chances thanks to Barça’s stupidity.

At halftime, the Blaugrana had just played the worst 45 minutes in club history, and the season was over. Could they somehow save face and show some fight and dignity in the second half?

SECOND HALF

Barça made a solid start to the second half with better pressing and a goal by Luis Suárez that gave them some sort of hope, but the bad defending continued and Bayern quickly made it a three-goal game again thanks to a spectacular run by Alphonso Davies and an easy tap-in for Joshua Kimmich.

The score was 5-2 with 30 minutes to go, and Bayern finally decided to show some mercy and let Barça have the ball for a little bit. But the Blaugrana were so awful on the night that they continued to lose it in bad positions, and Bayern scored THREE goals in the final 10 minutes: Lewandowski got his with a free header in the six-yard box, and Barça loanee Philippe Coutinho scored twice to make all of this even worse worse.

The final whistle mercifully came, and Barcelona’s season is over in truly painful fashion. This is hard to take. This will hurt for a long time.
