N-Power Permanency: The Role The State Governors Can Play.

N-Power Permanency, all the calls and protests by the N-Power volunteers, it seems the federal government has decided to disengage the entire beneficiaries of the two batches from the scheme. That will definitely not to sound well with the volunteers. However, the state governors can come in to play a very important role as regards the exit or absorption of the N-Power beneficiaries.

Although N-Power scheme is an innovation of the federal government, the state governors can help in a way. If at the of the day, the volunteers have been exited and the federal government is taking on new beneficiaries (i.e. Batch C volunteers), then why shouldn’t the state governors absorb them into the state civil service or empower them in a way. By so doing, the exited volunteers may not be stranded in the streets.

The state governments have different departments under which the volunteers in a state can work. Those in the N-Agro and N-Health categories have also been working with the states in different departments.

N-Power Permanency: The Role The State Governors Can Play.

Considering the fact that the beneficiaries have been struggling for permanency, they might not mind being attached to any place of work with either the state or local government area. They may not mind that they will be working in rural areas or not. All that they seem to seek to have is a permanent means of survival. This is evident in the fact that a lot of them have expressed fear of being sent back to the streets as job seekers.

The state governors should try to have a look at the idea expressed in this article in order to do something about it. Each governor can strategically absorb the volunteers in his or her state regardless of whether a volunteer is originally from the state or not. A governor can do so by creating job opportunities. And it may not cost a state governor much to either establish companies or farms in his/her state.
