Catch Them Young Community Initiative (CATYCOI) has urged South-East youth to participate in all stages of the 2027 general elections.

The organization’s Executive Director, Comrade Nonso Orakwe, made the call in a statement he made available to journalists in Awka, Anambra State, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in the electoral process.

Orakwe said that the future of the country’s democracy depended on the active involvement of young people adding that it is the opportunity to shape a more transparent, accountable, and inclusive electoral system.

“The future of our democracy depends on the active involvement of young people. This is our opportunity to shape a more transparent, accountable, and inclusive electoral system. We must ensure that our voices are heard and our votes count.”

Orakwe encouraged South-East youth to participate in voter registration, civic education, and election observation. “We must take ownership of this process and ensure that our democracy reflects the needs and aspirations of our generation,” he said.

The CATYCOI leader noted that the recently amended Electoral Act has introduced critical reforms, including the deployment of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and electronic transmission of election results, which he said are aimed at enhancing the credibility and transparency of the electoral process.

“We must leverage these reforms to build a more inclusive and participatory democracy,” Orakwe said. “We urge all South-East youth to get involved in the electoral process and ensure that their voices are heard.”
