Catch Them Young Community Initiative (CATYCOI) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing youth-led electoral reforms and strengthening democratic participation.

The organization’s Executive Director, Nonso Orakwe, pledged CATYCOI’s support for the 2027 elections, stating that as a South-East partner on YERP-NAIJA, they would support the implementation of electoral reforms.

In a statement on Thursday, Orakwe urged youth to take ownership of Nigeria’s democratic process, saying it’s a critical moment to drive change and build an inclusive democracy.

The CATYCOI leader urged South-East youth to participate in voter registration, civic education, and election observation, saying, “We must ensure that our voices are heard and our votes count.”

To boost voter awareness and participation, CATYCOI said it has launched launched an outreach campaign in the South-East region. Orakwe explained that they were utilizing multiple channels, including jingles, radio programs, and community-based platforms, to ensure widespread awareness and participation.

“We aim to empower citizens with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively participate in the electoral process,” Orakwe said. “This is a critical moment for our democracy, and we must ensure that all citizens are informed and engaged.”

The organization encouraged South-East youth to take advantage of the outreach campaign to learn more about the electoral process and their role in shaping Nigeria’s democratic future.
