A Catholic priest of Awka Diocese, Tuesday night  narrowly escaped kidnappers’ den along Enugu-Agidi-Nawgu road in Dunukofia local  government area of Anambra state.
According to a source, the priest escaped with speed in reverse direction when he ran into the kidnappers as they were manhandling a couple and their daughter.
Confirming the report, the President General of Enugwu-Agidi, Mr Ndubuisi Obijiofor, said he only learnt about the couple abducted by the hoodlums and marched into the bush after a sporadic gunshot into the air.

Obijiofor, who said he had contacted the police and they had intensified action to rescue the victims, however, reported that a woman and her child were later released at about 3am on Wednesday, remaining the man.
“The man is still in captivity while his wife and child were released about 3am this morning. Incidence of abduction on Enugu-Agidi-Nawgwu road has become worrisome, we need increased security presence there and total repair for smooth drive,” he said.
Reacting, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed, acknowledged receiving a distress call on the area which according to him, led them into drafting a team of Rapid Response Squad to mobilise to the area.
