Soludo, Others Pay Last Respect To Former Aviation Minister
Governor Chukwuma Soludo has described the death of the first Nigerian Aviation Minister, Late Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, as the end of an era, as he joined the Amaechi family, Ukpor people, Ndi Anambra and entire Nigerians to pay last respect.
The Late Chief Amaechi, who died at the age of ninety-four, was a foremost statesman, nationalist, pre-independence activist and one of the founding fathers that helped free Nigeria from colonial rule.
Addressing the gathering at the Late Chief Amaechi’s residence in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area, Governor Soludo, who sympathized with the family and the entire Africa, said the late Chief Amaechi lived for the good of others and died a good Christian, despite his fidelity to the Igbo culture and traditions.
President Muhammadu Buhari, represented by the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige said the deceased was known for his wisdom and honesty, adding that he will be remembered for his works, values and devotion to the service of the nation.
On behalf of the family, the deceased son, Mr. Ikenna Amaechi, tanked those that supported the family as they mourn the passage of their father, and prayed God to reward them accordingly.
The burial ceremony commenced with a holy mass presided over by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, Most Reverend Jonasbenson Okoye.
