Awka Diocese holds 2024 Synod

Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Province of the Niger , Diocese of Awka’s 2024 ,2nd session of the 13th Synod will hold from Thursday, 2nd May to Sunday 5th May, 2024, at The Chirch of The Pentcost, Awka, Awka South Local Government Area.

The Synod shall be presided over by the Archbishop Ecclesiastical Province of the Niger, and Bishop Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Alexander Chibuzo Ibezim PhD.

According to Chairman, Diocesan Synod Planning Committee, Prof Emma Ezewaji, KSP and Clerical Synod Secretary, Ven Clememt C. Mgbemena the theme is ” Running the Christian Race: Implications for the Church in perilous times” , 2 Timothy 3:1-4, 2 Timothy 4:1-5.

The Guest Preacher is Right Reverend Nedison Foreman , Bishop, Diocese of Jalingo. Funds shall be raised in support of Diocesan projects and Paul University, Awka.

Highlight of the Synod shall be arrival, registration and service of safe arrival on Thursday 2nd May 2024 by 10am; Holy Communion service with Bible study ,Group discussions and Launching of 2023 Synod report on Friday ,3rd May 2024 by 7:30 am and Matins with Bible study, presentation of Archbishop’s Charge , Launchings and Plenary on Saturday 4th May, 2024 by 7:30am as welll as Eucharistic Thanksgiving service, cutting of Synod cake and launching of funds for mission and Evangelism etc on Sunday 5th May, 2024 by 9am.

Engr Ejke Mgbemena, KSP is the Chairman Local Synod Planning Committee and Hon Justice O.J Okeke ,KSP is the Diocesan Chancellor.

President, Mother’s Union, Women Guild, and Girls Guide as well as Young Wives, Mrs Chioma Martha
Ibezim, PhD among numerous Archbishops, Bishops and their wives among others are expected to grace grace Synod.

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Deputy Governor, Dr Onyekachukwu Ibezim among other government officials and captians of industries are expected.
