August Meeting: Enugu governor’s wife tasks mothers on security consciousness

The Wife of Enugu State Governor, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, has advised Enugu women on the need to train their children and wards  to shun crime for a peaceful and better society. Mbah gave the advice during the monthly prayers of Enugu Women Prayer Network/ flagging off of 2023 August Meeting held at Michael Okpara Square in Enugu on Wednesday. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Enugu Women Prayer Network holds their prayers on the 9th of every month where they pray for the state and nation in general. Mbah was represented at the event by the Director of Administration, Enugu State Ministry of Gender Affairs, Dr Uzoamaka  Okenwa. She admonished Enugu women to train their children to shun drug addiction, crimes and become good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria at large. She also charged them to support the governor in his efforts to move the state forward especially in the area of security. The governor’s wife discouraged women from involving in child trafficking as well as shun domestic violence against their wards. Mbah said the annual August Meeting came with a lot of development plans, adding she was determined that every woman should be economically empowered. She urged the women to deliberate on those things that would aid development in their various communities. Meanwhile, during the health talk on “Exclusive Breastfeeding’’, a Consultant Paediatrician, Dr Chioma Odimegwu, urged nursing mothers to breastfeed their babies exclusively for six months. Odimegwu stressed that breast milk contained water and nutrients for healthy growth of babies. According to her, breast milk makes babies strong and intelligent; it builds their immune system and protects them from contracting diseases. She advised them to always extract breast milk for their babies whenever they were going out, adding that breast milk could stay for four hours without getting sour. Odimegwu urged young mothers who did not want to breastfeed their babies because of the fear that their breasts would sag, to take that off their minds, saying, whether they breastfeed their babies or not, their breasts must fall. She advised women to breastfeed their babies for two years, explaining that it would help both the baby and the mother to grow healthy and bonded. The immediate past Executive Chairman, Post Primary School Management Board (PPSMB), Enugu State, Dr Favour Ugwuanyi prayed for a successful 2023 August Meeting. Ugwuanyi who is also an Evangelist, also prayed for peace and security in the state. The highlight of the event includes the distribution of wrappers and salts to Enugu widows that attended the event by the governor’s wife. (NAN) (
