Assembly passes N381bn 2022 Imo budget

The Imo House of Assembly on Tuesday passed the state N381.4billion 2022 budget.
This followed the adoption of the report of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation at the Committee of the Whole House in Owerri.


Presenting the report, the Chairman, Mr Emeka Nduka said that the budget was made up of N96billion recurrent expenditure and N284 billion capital expenditure.
The speaker Mr Kennedy Ibeh commended the committee for carefully scrutinising the budget from different government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).


He further announced that the budget will take effect from Jan. 1, 2022.
Ibeh also announced the suspension of  three lawmakers  for boycotting the processes leading to the passage of the budget.

He named them to include Dr Arthur Egwim (APC Ideato North), Mrs Ngozi Obiefule (APC- Isu) and Mr Oninna Okwara (APC -Nkwerre).
He stated that the suspension was done to discourage  recalcitrance among the lawmakers.(NAN)
