Anambra SSG, Nnake Receives Award Of Excellence From Home Town, Nawfia
The Secretary to the Anambra State Government, SSG, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, received an award of excellence from the Nawfia Home and Abroad Women Wing for her excellent performance and contributions to society.
The women who decorated her with the award during the launch of a uniform and award presentation to some distinguished sons and daughters of Nawfia in Njikoka Council Area stated that what motivated them was her salient character, which earned her the distinction of being the first woman to hold the position of Secretary to the State Government.
Addressing the gathering, the President General of the Nawfia Progressive Union Women Wing, Evangelist Mrs. Georgina Mbaonu, said that though they tagged it the launch of a uniform, the gathering was all about entrenching peace and unity, for the women to see themselves as one, do things in common, and be their brothers’ keepers.
Evangelist Mrs. Mbaonu noted that the programme was an avenue to educate women on how to handle their homes and train their wards to become useful citizens, as the society has become a terrible and uncomfortable place to dwell.
The Chairman of the programme, Prince Damian Amobi, encouraged the women for their roles in family and community building, described them as pillars of society whose duties are enormous, and advised them to ensure that Nawfia as a community remains calm and peaceful for progress and development to continue to take root.
On his part, the President General of the Nawfia Progressive Union, Chief Daniel Okoye-Okongwu, disclosed that the leadership of the women is superb and has made them well coordinated, stating that anything done without women will be in shambles, and asked them to continue to work in unity and address issues of moral decadence and other social vices troubling the society.
On her part, the Chairman of the Planning Committee of the programme, Barrister Chiago Jonny-Obineme, asked the women to be at their very best as much responsibility and roles are bestowed on women to get things right, and called on Nawfia women to always pray for the good and progress of the community.
The award presentation to the SSG, Mrs. Nnake, former President General of the Women Wing, Lady Franca Nwigbo, and other activities climaxed the programme.
