Anambra Sports Club Gives Palliatives To 300 Persons In Awka

About Three hundred persons in Awka Metropolis have received palliatives from the Anambra Sports Club.

The palliatives included Three hundred bags of rice, Six hundred tubers of yam Four bags of beans and a cash of Twenty thousand Naira
to each of their coaches as part of efforts to motivate them.

Presenting the items to the beneficiaries which was done in accordance with the social distancing rule and proper washing of hands with soap and running water as well as use of sanitizers the Coordinator of Anambra
Sports Club, Chief Frank Obi Onyekuba said the items were part of the
club’s support towards improving the living standards of the
downtrodden especially in this period the International Community is suffering from Coronavirus pandemic.

He charged the people to always adhere strictly to the directives of the World Health Organization and other relevant bodies on how to contain the Corona virus pandemic.

The Co-ordinator who was represented by a member of the Planning
Committee Mr Charles Ekwunife commended the Anambra State Government for series of measures put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the State having recorded an index case which had been certified negative after series of tests by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee and Captain of the Club Mr
Samuel Nwobu said the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic which is causing hardship on the people prompted the Association to dole out the palliatives.

He said that the Club is currently looking for a large expanse of land
that will accommodate all its activities which is beyond playing football.

The Coach of the Club and one of those that were empowered during the event Mr Emmanuel Azubike while commending the spirit of brotherhood of members of the club called on others to emulate them.

The Chairman of Eke Awka Market Chief Jude Agummadu who is a member of the club stressed the need for a regular exercise for a healthy living.

Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs Phina Chibueze from Enugu State, Mohammed Musa from Adamawa State and Mrs Cordelia Okeke from Awka thanked members of the club for their benevolence and prayed God to bless them.
