Anambra Police Recover Arms, Cash After Suspects Abandon Vehicle In Abagana
Operatives of the Anambra State Commissioner of Police Special Patrol have recovered firearms, suspected stolen cash, and other incriminating items following a high-speed chase in Abagana on Tuesday, 16 December 2025.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, the patrol team was conducting an offensive security operation around 5:00 p.m. when the suspects’ vehicle — an ash‑coloured Toyota Highlander with registration number UWN 680 PE — was involved in an accident. The occupants reportedly fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle and its contents.
A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a pump‑action rifle, a locally fabricated single‑barrel gun, ₦636,700 in suspected stolen cash, and other undisclosed incriminating materials.
Police say the fleeing suspects are currently being tracked, with intelligence‑led operations intensified to ensure their swift arrest.
The Anambra State Police Command reassured residents of its continued commitment to proactive policing, maintaining public safety, and protecting lives and property across the state.
