Anambra philanthropist exhorts women on building healthy families

Dr Onyeka Ifekandu, renowned philanthropist, has urged women to be a tool in building healthy families through embracing peaceful coexistence and engaging in economics development. Ifekandu made the plea during an empowerment programme organised by Women of Aboatulu kindred in Enugwu-Ukwu Community, Njikoka Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports on Thursday that Ifekandu is the Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos-based Ezendigbo Welfare Foundation. He commended the women for organising themselves in such a manner and appealed to them to seek for peaceful coexistence amongst the people to achieve economic and social growth in the community.

Ifekandu empowered over 10 women with cash to support their businesses and assured that he will always support their developmental Projects in the town. Ifekandu prides its philanthropic activities in promoting educational excellence for indigent students, assist graduates of Igbo apprenticeship scheme amongst others. He said that poor funding of education which has lead to a slide in Educational excellence motivated him to venture into education support. “I wish to ask anyone whose child is interested in education but lacked financial assistance to go to my foundation to register.

“I will do my best to ensure that readable youths in our community get quality basic education, I recognise the importance of eduction so I want to help,” he said. NAN reports that Ifekandu also assured indigent students, widows and unemployed youths from the community a better year 2024 with his diverse philanthropic programmes. Ifekandu commended State and Federal governments for encouraging Charity organisations to play a key role in salvaging the society. He urged other wealthy people in the state and Nigeria at large to partner governments in educational sector so as to have enlighten population and civil society.

Ifekandu appealed to governments to give them more enabling environment to operate so as to contribute to well being of the people. Mrs Uju Ekwoanya, one of the beneficiaries of the empowerment, assured that more efforts would be made to provide healthy living in their homes. Earlier, the president of the women association, Mrs Ngozi Mbachi, commended Ifekandu for his philanthropic gestures in the community. “I thank you on behalf of the women for remembering us this year and we pray God to provide support for you,” she said.
