Anambra Guber: APGA founder Chekwas Okorie endorses Azuka Okwuosa

The founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chief Chekwas Okorie, on Saturday backed the governorship aspiration of Chief Azuka Okwuosa of the All Progressive Congress in the Anambra State November 6 poll .

Speaking at Okwuosa’s campaign office in Awka, the state capital when scores of members of the United Progressives Party joined the APC,Okorie said there was hope for the Igbo in APC.

Okories who was the national chairman of the UPP said “I entered APC long ago in spirit. In 2018, the National Executive Council of the UPP held a meeting and supported Buhari, so he could complete his term.

“We are hopeful that with Buhari completing his tenure, everyone is driving to the South-East for the next president of the country.

“We have long been allies of Okwuosa. He joined us to go to Daura to support Buhari.

“We are alive so we can always tell the truth and be torchbearers to those who haven’t seen the light. We decided that UPP will collapse to APC. We are here because of Okwuosa who has paid his dues in political apprenticeship.

“I knew him at Ojukwu’s place in the early 90s. He was LGA chairman, Commissioner for works and has been DG campaign to many and knows the terrain. He is an aspirant who knows the state and did not just return to take power.

“We are here to make him the candidate of APC. UPP is supporting him with all our might and we will show that we are still the tigers. I’m giving these UPP men and women to you for you to put them in your organisation and they will fight for you.

“We will support you and insist that the right person flies the party’s flag. We must choose the best method of electing the candidate.

Okorie added,” I will relocate down to Anambra to ensure once Okwuosa gets the nomination to make him the next governor of Anambra State.

Speaking, Okwuosa said ,”There is need to expand our frontiers. We must shake Anambra State, and the plan is to ensure victory and we will not disappoint.

“We will integrate all of you( UPP members) into our campaign organisation. You have shown consistency in UPP, we will integrate you into our steering committee.”.
