Anambra: Group trains journalists on audit, investigative reporting

A non-profit mass media organization known as FrontFoot Media Initiative has organised a two-day intensive training in audit reporting for  journalists drawn from Anambra and Enugu states.


Mr. Sully Abu, chairman, FrontFoot Media Initiative, presenting certificate of participation to Mrs. Ify Obi, Station Manager, Unizik Fm Radio.

The two-days training took place at the exquisite Hilton Leisure Resort & Hotel, Awka, from 19 – 20 October, 2022,  and featured lectures on Audit Reporting Imperative for Nigerian Journalism.

It also looked at Principles and Purposes of (Public Interest) Journalism, Principles & Applications of Auditing & Public Sector Finance,  and Interpreting Government Audit Reports.

Other topics handled by experts in Finance, Accountancy and Journalism were Reflection on Local Government Audits, Audit Reports, Crafting a Good Story, Deploying Solutions and Investigative Journalism, Where does a Reporter Find Audit Reports? and Principles of Government Budgets. on

Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra state Council(L) receives a certificate of participation from Mr. Abu.


The workshop focused on the auditing process based on the implementation of budgets. The participants, and indeed the media, were enjoined to put the spotlight on how budgets are made, and public monies spent.
