…asks Obiano to visit town and witness neglect.

His Royal Highness Igwe Dennis Ezebuilo, Ogbuodudu 11, The Crowned Traditional Ruler of Amanuke Eri Kingdom in Awka North Local Government of Anambra State has appealed to Anambra State Government to revamp Amanuke General Hospital which is currently an eyesore and in a sorry State.

*The Royal Father noted that Amanuke sons and daughters through United efforts built the hospital and handed it over to the government for management in early 80’s but the structures supposedly the best among equals then were abandoned.

The multi-million naira, general hospital has a gigantic 2-storey building of about 100-bed capacity and five bungalows all in an expansive compound. Unfortunately, the hospital now house reptiles as it has been abandoned by successive state governments.*

The Monarch noted that Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala visited the General Hospital with a promise that the State Government will upgrade the Amanuke Community General Hospital for optimal performance without giving a timeline for the fufilment of the promise.

He noted that though Dr Okpala, while inspecting the hospital facilities restated the State Government’s commitment in provision of quality and accessible healthcare service delivery to Ndi Amanuke wondered if there is any budgetary provision for the upgrade of the hospital in the 2021 budget which was passed by the state House of Assembly.

Igwe Dennis Ezebuilo disclosed that Amanuke sits in the centre of Awka North which houses nine other towns– Achalla, Amansea, Awba-Ofemmili, Ebenebe, Isuaniocha, Mgbakwu, Ugbene, Ugbenu, and Urum, thus, the General Hospital if rehabilitated and upgraded will meet the health challenges of not only Amanuke Town but also all the adjourning towns around it.

He further highlited that given its close proximity to the Government House, Governor Willie Obiano should schedule a working visit to the town to see that Amanuke, which is a stone throw to the state’s seat of power in Awka, lacks basic amenities like functional healthcare facilities, tarred road, electricity supply, pipe borne water, and see the urgent need to match his words with action before the expiration of his tenure.
