Amanuke celebrates first Igwe Ofala amidst tension

Embattled traditional ruler of Amanuke community, Awka North local government area, Anambra state, Igwe Alophonsus Chijindu Ezebuilo has celebrated his maiden Ofala festival.

Igwe Chijindu has his cousin , Chief Dennis Ezebuilo who was unanimously crowned by the community as their traditional ruler before sudden emergence of Chijindu to contend the throne with.

This has created unnecessary tension in the community for some time now though Igwe Chijindu has a certificate from Obiano’s government against Igwe Dennis his cousin, crowned but without certificate of recognition yet. There is court matter on that.

However , speaking at the Central Primary School, Amanuke, venue of the Ofala , Igwe Ezebuilo called on the people of Amanuke to work towards sustaining the prevailing peace and unity in the community.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mrs Veraqueen Okonkwo, said that the State government is solidly in support of the event and prayed God to give Igwe Ezebuilo more wisdom to lead his people.

In their various speeches, the Traditional Prime Minister of Amanuke Chief Charles Obi, and the President-General of the town, Mr Nnamdi Mmaduka, thanked God for the success of the event charging members of the Community to always be apostles of peace and love.
