ABU Mmaduaburochukwu Foundation fetes persons with disabilities, awards scholarship to 10

It was a moment of joy and happiness at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, Anambra State as some Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) held a public demonstration to appreciate the founder of ABU Mmaduaburochukwu Foundation for his looking after their wellbeing.

Many onlookers who were at the popular square for an early morning  exercise taught the PWDs were protesting but a closer look at the placards they carried in their hands revealed it was an appreciation road show to the CEO and Founder of ABU Mmaduaburochukwu Foundation, Chief Abuchi C. Attah, for the special attention he is giving to them in the last couple of years, through the foundation.

The placards read: “Chief Abuchi is good and God will continue to bless and protect him”, “Thank you ABU Foundation for not forgetting the dusabled. God will not forget you”, Anambra help us thank ABU Foundation,” among others.

Auta Usman, who led the demonstration, said it was their own way of telling the world what Chief Attah has been to them, stating that the CEO wasn’t unaware of their public show.

Usman expressed concern that many of them with disabilities are yet to feel the impact of various social intervention initiatives by both the state and federal government but nevertheless ABU Foundation, as an NGO has been filling the gap.

Chief Attah, who later showed up, said he was touched when informed about the ongoing solidarity by the disabled community and had to leave all that he was doing to come identify with them.

Bringing along some take-home for them and also providing them with cash gift, Chief Attah said he considered them as part of his family and will continue to use the Foundation to assist them.

He announced a yearly educational scholarship for 10 of their children, who are either in Primary or Secondary schools.

www.odogwublog.com reports that ABU Mmaduaburochukwu Foundation has been at the front line of bringing succour to underprivileged families, taking destitute off the street and giving children the keys to a brighter future through education.
