Our Lady’s High School Onitsha Old Boys Inaugurated: Doles Cash Award To Students, Teachers

The 79 class of old boys Association of Our lady’s High School Onitsha, Anambra state fondly called Corners Stone have been inaugurated during which some students of the School were awarded cash gifts for their academic performances.
The event which held at Lumen Suits GRA, Onitsha also featured presentation of Excellence award to their former teachers and cash gifts to some incumbent teachers. At the event, the Old boys also appreciated the School Principal, Dr. Njideka Nwoye who won best School Administrator in Senior Secondary School in 2021.
Some students who benefited from the cash reward included the senior prefect of the school, Chukwunwaike, Chima Ekwechukwu and Nwokpa Chigozie while the teachers were Ogbonnia Maryann, Megafu Anthonia, Ifezue Ngozi, Ifeanyi Odukwe and Okoye Rita.

Speaking prior to the event, the Chairman of the occasion who is also a member of the Association, Pharm. Innocent Chukwuanu, stated that the purpose of their gathering was to inaugurate the 1979 set, having graduated from the school forty- three years ago.
He also disclosed that their gathering would avail them opportunity to brainstorm on the strategy for improving standard at their Alma Mater. He restated that the cash gifts would encourage students of the school to be more serious with their studies as well as motivate their teachers to perform better.
Chukwuanu, however, revealed that efforts are on top gear to rehabilitate the collapsed School fence, lamenting that it should not be ignored in order to save the lives of Students.

Earlier in his address of welcome, the Senior Prefect of 79 class and coordinator of the inauguration committee, Dr. Mike Ozoemena recalled that the idea of the inauguration began in July 29, 2021 when he appealed to Pharm. Innocent Chukwuanu to set up 79 Set platform, even as he stated that creating the platform gave rise to discussions between, Dr. Emma Emegoakor and Engineer Chris Okafor to suggest formal inauguration of class of 79.
Dr. Ozoemena also outlined some of the aims of the Association as follows: to promote, foster and advance fellowship among members, sustaining and promote the vision, mission of the founding fathers of the school as well as act as role models to the up coming generation.
He added that the Assoeciation donated twenty- five White Board, markers and inks to the management of Our Lady’s High School Onitsha as part of their achievements.

In their separate remarks, Dr. Fredrick Obodo Agha and Chief Clement Nkemudilim Okoli stated that they were overwhelmed to meet their class mates again after several years, praising God for blessing each and every one abundantly.
The following members during the occasion received accolades for sponsoring the inauguration; Dr. Emma Emegoakor, Capt. Theophilus Orakonmma, Dr.Fred Obodo Agha, Chief Chris Ifejika, Dr. Anthony Anadi, Mazi Jude Orji and Chief Chris Okafor.
