2025 Anambra Election: YPP Strategizes to Secure Senatorial Seat

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) Anambra State Chapter held a one-day workshop to sensitize members in preparation for the upcoming Anambra South by-election and governorship election. The event took place at Hollywood Event Center along Onitsha – Enugu Expressway on Friday, February 28, 2025, and was graced by some of the national executives of the party, including Hon. Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, who represented the national chairman, Comrade Bishop Emmanuel Amakiri, and Hon. Haruna Usman, national treasurer.
The event also had in attendance some of the state executives, including the state chairman, Hon. Prince Moses N. Obi (Ndukanachukwu), and the state leader, High Chief Chinedu Umeadi (Agunaechemba na Abagana). The one-day workshop, organized by the state chapter of the party, aimed to brainstorm and re-strategize to prepare members ahead of the election. This was stated by the state chairman of the party in his remarks.

“The workshop is a crucial step in our party’s efforts to re-strategize and reposition ourselves for the challenge ahead. We believe that the future of our state belongs to us, and it is our responsibility to shape it,” Hon. Moses said. He urged members to begin a door-to-door mobilization campaign across the 326 wards in the state and expressed gratitude to Chief Umeadi, the state party leader, for sponsoring the workshop and for his continued commitment to the growth and development of the party in Anambra State.
The state leader of the party in Anambra State, High Chief Chinedu Umeadi, in his speech, urged members to reflect on their performance in any race where they failed to achieve their political goals. “Self-assessment, that inner reflection, is what we need as a party. In our reflective moments, we will be able to discover our flaws and then find ways to amend them. That is what we need as a party, rather than making plans to join other parties. Joining another party may eventually amount to downgrading and demoting your political status. Why not help build our party by attracting other people by showing them the values attached to our party?” Chief Umeadi suggested.
The national secretary of the party, Hon. Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, while delivering his speech as the keynote speaker, referred to the party, YPP, as a wonderful gift given to them by God and urged members to help grow it.
“This is a wonderful gift that God has given us in the name of YPP. I want to encourage you to nurture it, build it, grow it, and be tenacious. I understand we have elections that will take place in Anambra State. We have the governorship election, and we have the senatorial re-run. Remember that there was a time we went around the twenty-one (21) local governments for YPP, so YPP is known in this state, and people know how they can vote for YPP. Let’s capitalize on that and make it our personal duty. Talk to a friend, and that friend should talk to another friend. Move from house to house and share the good news about YPP. YPP is a party without crisis. We are not fighting anybody, and nobody is fighting us,” Hon. Bamaiyi urged.

In a press briefing that commenced immediately after the workshop, the national secretary, Hon. Vidiyeno Bamaiyi, disclosed that the nomination form for the November 8th Anambra governorship election is on sale. Bamaiyi, however, did not disclose the amount set for the nomination form but promised that the price would be unveiled as the process unfolds. He assured that the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), under the leadership of Comrade Bishop Emmanuel Amakiri, is fully prepared for the election.

The party’s leading aspirant for the forthcoming Anambra South senatorial district by-election, Hon. Prince Ik Samben Nwosu, was also at the event. In his address, Hon. Samben Nwosu stated that YPP is a party with peaceful coexistence and love. He urged members to be committed and not relent until success is achieved.
Other dignitaries at the event included Hon. Emma Ezeokafor, PhD, LOC secretary, Hon. Peter Ozumba (Ichie Agu), LOC chairman, and Hon. Prince Tyndale Okoli, publicity secretary.
