Nise Stands Still As Anambra Patriots’ Chairman, Wife Attain Prestigious Igbo Traditional Titles in Nise

The landmark event drew an impressive gathering of government officials, political leaders, captains of industry, academics, business executives, community stakeholders, and religious leaders, who travelled from various parts of the state and beyond to identify with the celebrants.

It was a moment when tradition met celebration, and honour found its rightful place, as joy radiated across Nise in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State, turning the community into a hub of cultural pride and goodwill.
The atmosphere brimmed with excitement as the Chairman of Anambra Patriots for Soludo, Chief Damian Enekwechi, was formally admitted into the Ancient Ozo-Owulu of Nise Aniyi Kingdom, taking the revered title of Ozo Ejiamatu N’Aniyi.

The historic initiation ceremony, held on Monday, December 5, at the Enekwechi Garden Residence, Nise, became even more remarkable as it unfolded into a double celebration for the Enekwechi family. On the same occasion, the wife of the newly installed Ozo title holder, Lady Ifeoma Enekwechi, was equally honoured with initiation into the highly respected Iyom Society of Nise Kingdom, where she emerged as Iyom Ugwumsinachi.

Dignitaries present included the Deputy Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Pius Okoye; the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake; the immediate past National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye; the Anambra State APGA Chairman, Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye; the Traditional Ruler of Nise, Igwe Romanus Iloh; the Traditional Ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka; the Chairman of Awka South Local Government Area, Hon. Chinedu Okafor; and the Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra State Bureau for Public Procurement and Convener of Anambra Patriots for Soludo, Arc Okey Ezeobi. They all took turns to pour glowing tributes on Ozo Ejiamatu.

Speaking to journalists, Arc Ezeobi described the new Ozo title holder as a committed grassroots figure whose popularity cuts across Nise community and beyond, noting that his personality and lifestyle endeared him to many.
According to him, the honour conferred on Ozo Ejiamatu was well deserved, stressing that his integrity, sincerity, and enviable reputation distinguished him as a man worthy of such recognition.

Also speaking, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Pius Okoye, noted that truthfulness remains the hallmark of an Ozo title holder, adding that Ozo Ejiamatu’s uprightness and honesty clearly reflect the values of the institution. He prayed for divine blessings, longevity, and prosperity for him, while urging him to continually uphold the principles of the society.

In her remarks, the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Mrs. Nnake, said the celebrant had consistently shown commitment to service, not only within his community but across the state, describing his life as one worthy of emulation. She encouraged him to remain steadfast in the good virtues he is known for.

A prominent Nise stakeholder, Mr. Uche Nwammadu, also described Ozo Ejiamatu as a dependable and responsible son of the soil, whose conduct serves as a benchmark for good character.

Similarly, a close associate of the celebrant, Chief Engr. Dr. Eze Ikedichukwu, congratulated both Ozo Ejiamatu and Iyom Ugwumsinachi, praying that their membership in the Ozo and Iyom societies would usher in renewed joy, sound health, and greater prosperity.

Adding her voice, Mrs. Kate Oguocha, Iyom Okwesili Eze Na Nise, affirmed that the couple embodies the true spirit of Nise through their peaceful disposition and exemplary character.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Ancient Ozo-Owulu of Nises Aniyi Kingdom, Ichie Emeka Ayasili, Onwa Na Nise, explained that the Ozo institution, both in Igbo land and particularly in Nise, is synonymous with truth and justice, and is often consulted in resolving sensitive matters.

He noted that membership of the society is reserved strictly for men known for truthfulness, fairness, moral excellence, and commitment to community development, qualities he said Ozo Ejiamatu evidently possesses.

While performing the initiation rites, Ichie Ayasili advised the new Ozo title holder to remain a defender of truth and justice wherever he goes, and to continue supporting the less privileged, assuring him that such lifestyle would attract greater blessings.
He also prayed for divine protection and prosperity upon Ozo Ejiamatu, expressing hope that he would remain a blessing to Nise community and humanity at large.

In his response, Ozo Ejiamatu expressed deep gratitude to the society for finding him worthy of the honour, pledging to sustain the values and lifestyle that earned him the recognition. He further thanked friends and well-wishers who honoured his invitation despite their tight schedules.

The event was crowned with decoration of the celebrants by the societies, cultural dance performances, and other colourful displays that marked the occasion as truly historic.
