You have chosen a noble profession – journalist tells UNIZIK Mass Communication Students

An award-winning journalist, Alfred Ajayi, has admonished new students of Mass Communication Department, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka to be focused and poised to pay the price for successful academic journey. 

Ajayi gave the admonition while addressing students during one of their lectures. 

Invited by one of the the lecturers in the department, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, the journalist who had practised for over fifteen years, warned the students against activities that are capable of derailing them.

“I tell honestly, you have made the right choice to be here. Make it good by being serious with all you are asked to do. Do your assignments as and when due and don’t stop learning”.

“In Mass Communication, things keep changing as the society evolves. You must not stop learning. You need determination to succeed”.

Ajayi, while enjoining the students to shun indolence, charged them to prioritize their academics above any other thing on campus.

“You came here for a reason. Don’t forget it. Be bold. Be positive attitude towards learning. It depends on you, journalism offers several opportunities for those who are ready to take them. Don’t be lazy. Even as students, you can begin to find your bearing in journalism practice”.

Ajayi offered to mentor as many as are willing.
