Woman docked for allegedly beating up PHCN official

A 44-year-old woman, Anerobi Obianuju, was on Tuesday  docked in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly beating up an official of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria(PHCN) while performing his duty.

The defendant, a trader who resides at 7, Adesola Akande St., College road, Ogba, Lagos, is charged with assault and causing the breach of peace.

The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Glory Goodday, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Aug. 18 while the PHCN officials were on routine check.

Goodday said that, thereafter, an argument was ensured between the complainant, Mr John Durugo, a staff of Ikeja electric, and the defendant.

The prosecutor said that the defendant beat up the complainant and used her finger nails to inflict injuries on his face.

The prosecutor also said that the defendant also seized the ladder of the company.

The offence according to the prosecutor contravened Sections 168 and 173 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. O Odufuyi, granted the defendant to bail of N100,000 with two sureties in likesum.

Odufuyi adjourned the case until Oct. 12 for mention.(NAN)
