Prof. Chukwuma Soludo

The release of this final part of Nelson Omenugha’s revelations on the prospects of Anambra State under Prof Chukwuma Soludo’s leadership was spurred  by a call I got from Chijioke Okafor.

Chijioke is a second year student of Unizik, Awka. He is tall, lanky, confident and an embodiment of the great Anambra spirit. I met him later in the school after a visit to my friend , Prof Chukwudi Nwaizuigbo who has become an authority of sort in marketing education. Young Chijioke has been following our story and has admitted being inspired to follow the footsteps of Soludo like Nelson.

He can’t wait to see him take over the mantle of leadership from Governor Willie Obiano after the expiration of his tenure. Chijioke gleefully told me that he and a good number of students have changed their world view due to the inspirations they got from that interview.

Chijioke leaped into infectious smile when I told him that there was still an end part of the interview. He enthused, “Uncle Joe, please can I have it?”
For Chijioke and other teeming youths of Anambra and south east who the sky is only the beginning, we reproduce verbatim, the final part of our conversation with Nelson where he visualized Anambra State under the watch of Soludo. As they say, if you can’t see it, you can not achieve it.
Nelson- “Anambra under Soludo will be a work site.

There will be an infrastructural revolution and substantial investment in capital projects. I envision reforms taking place in our civil and public service to address the challenges of the 21st centuries. I see a greater investment in training and retraining of workforce and young people to readily drive the state development. Anambra will take a greater place in the comity of other States and better positioned to compete with mega cities like Lagos, Accra, etc. I see Soludo consolidating on the gains of past administrations to build a prosperous, thriving and sustainable Independent Anambra.”

We are truly enamoured by the deluge of responses the interview has generated in form of suggestions and criticisms. A reader wondered whether the theory can be converted into practice. We assured him that Soludo is a thinker and doer. And that he couldn’t have done what he did in CBN if he does not have both attributes.

To the youths and adults alike who have been inspired, we say keep your hands on the plough. Because, together we shall have our Anambra Africa Dubai-Taiwan.
