This means that if doesn’t matter the competition in which you obtain the red card, you are automatically suspended for your team’s next fixture. So when Christensen was showed the red card in the fame against Liverpool, instead of being suspended for yesterday’s game, he served his suspension in the fame against Barnsley last wednesday.

This new rule also affected Kovacic who was shown a double yellow card in Chelsea’s FA Cup Final against Arsenal. This was the reason the Croatian was suspended in Chelsea’s first game against Brighton.

Chelsea’s game featured some terrible defending from Chelsea with two of the conceded goals coming from cruel defensive errors. Marcos Alonso inability to match up the speed of the West Brom wingers cost Chelsea a goal and when everything were beginning to get normal, Chelsea’s new signing and captain Thiago Silva committed a blunder that led Callum Robinson to steal the ball away, going on to score his and team’s second. West Brom third came from a corner and mediocre defending with the ball landing on a totally unmarked Barsley who slotted it easily past a confused Cabellero.
