Mr. Valentine Ozigbo

Valentine Ozigbo, the immediate past President and Group CEO of Transcorp Plc, has extended his warm felicitations to the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, as it holds its ‘Standing Committee.’

Mr Ozigbo’s goodwill message was contained in a press statement issued in Awka, the Anambra State capital, on Monday, February 8, 2021.

The ‘Standing Committee’ is the highest decision making organ of the Anglican Communion. It holds annually, and through it, the church re-strategises on how best to carry on with its mandates.

This year’s event is being hosted by the Anglican Diocese on the Niger with the theme “Costly Commitments, the Imperative in Following Jesus Christ.”

In his statement, Ozigbo prayed for the guidance of the Holy Spirit throughout the committee’s deliberations especially as Nigeria and the rest of the world continue to suffer the pressures exerted by Covid-19.

According to him, “These are very challenging times globally. In Nigeria, the situation appears to be more critical. The twin scourge of COVID-19 and recession is joined by mounting insecurity, palpable tension in the land, and near absence of credible political leadership.”

“These events combine uncomfortably to make this year’s Standing Committee even more important. I have prayed that the Almighty imbues the committee the grace and wisdom needed at such a time as this.”
