‎
‎The credibility of Nigeria’s 2027 election will be tested by one fundamental question: will the ballot reflect the choice of the Nigerian people?
‎
‎This, the INEC Acting Chairman, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, says the Commission is determined to ensure the answer is yes, assuring that every administrative decision and technical deployment will comply with the law and protect electoral integrity.
‎
‎Gumus spoke on Tuesday in Abuja while receiving the African Union Pre-Election Needs Assessment Mission led by former Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister, Demeke Mekonnen.
‎
‎She said INEC is strengthening its operational and technological preparations, while seeking AU support to tackle disinformation and deepfakes, improve election monitoring, train adhoc personnel and deepen inclusion.
‎
‎The AU mission said it would assess Nigeria’s readiness ahead of 2027 in voter registration, technology, logistics, security, dispute resolution and results management.
