Vaccination: FMC keffi Board, Management team,Emir of Keffi ,recieve Astrazeneca Doses

The Federal Medical Center,Keffi in Nasarawa state has flagged off the inoculation of the COVID-19,vaccine(Astrazeneca) with the Emir of Keffi,Dr Shehu Chindo,FMC board chairman and his members,along with the management team as first recipients based on schedules.

Dr Samuel Pam the Residency Training Coordinator,on behalf of the management of the FMC Keffi,said that the schedule for vaccination will last for Ten days and will be administered to staff who are the front line workers and there after consideration will be given first priority to the aged who are 50 years and above.

” We have kicked started the vaccination on Friday going by a schedule,where the Board chairman,his team,the management team and the Emir of Keffi ,who was number 001, got administered with the Astrazeneca Dose.

” The second consideration on the schedule was for our frontline workers , especially those that work in the Isolation center” He said.

According to him, the Dose that was administered is the type that have Two Doses, pointing out that after taking the first Dose will last between 8-12 weeks,before the second dose will be administered to make a full round of the vaccine on that individual that had received the first Dose.

” Infact you will have to fill a form,incase one forgets when or she was supposed to go for the second round of the vaccine,the form will enable contact to those that been administered to be reminded,so in the next 8-12 weeks ,we will have the second Dose” Dr Pam added.

Fielding questions from journalists on ascertaining if there could be side effects,Dr Pam explained that under an unusual situation as this that world is grabbing with ,normally extensive trial would have been done ,but that due to exigency there was no record of such , however he added that the FMC Keffi,Public Health department,has draw up a proforma .

” Where anybody that has received the dose of the vaccine and eventually noticed any adverse reaction,will report and fill the proforma to enable us tracked if there is side effects or not ” He said.

On the final note ,Dr Pam warns that even after receiving the vaccine,there is still need for citizens to practice the social distancing , hand washing ,sanitizer and wearing of the facemask,in order to stay safe ,even after being vaccinated.
