Unizik visitation panel: CP Kuryas assures of support, Awka South chairman, Nwuba too

Anambra state Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas yesterday assured the federal government Visitation Panel of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka of the state commands absolute support to ensure a hitch free stay in Awka.

www.odogwublog.com reports that CP Kuryas spoke in his office while receiving in audience the Visitation Panel led by former Head of Service of the Federation, Barr Danladi Kifasi, Mni, CFR in company of the management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Unizik led by Prof Charles Okechukwu Esimone FAS represented by his Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof Joseph Ikechebelu.

CP Kuryas reminded that though security of lives and property is in God’s hands, God works through men hence his command is doing everything within it’s powers to ensure Anambra is secured and dignity in human life restored as well as secure property of the citizenry.

The Police CP commended the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Prof Charles Okechukwu Esimone FAS for the cooperation his command had received from the police since his assumption of duties in Anambra state. He further wished the visitation panel a successful deliberation.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Federal Government Visitation Panel, Barr Danladi Kifasi, Mni ,CFR informed the CP that they ought to stay for 60 days to conclude their duty, but because of some circumstances, they won’t stay that much longer. He informed that they have to contend with an assessment of 10 years work, since the last visitation panel was in 2011. He said Visitation Panel supposed to be an annual execise.

The Chairman of the Visitation Panel further commmeded the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof Joseph Ikechebelu for his efficiency in office as he has made their duty easier.


He reminded that they were not in the panel to witch-hunt anyone but to make the university better and move forward.

While commending Anambra state CP, CP Monday Kuryas for his dedication to duty and commitment to work since he arrived Anambra state, Barr Danladi who said it’s his first time of visiting Anambra, appreciated the CP’s assurances to them as their stay lasts in Awka.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chancellor Prof Charles Okechukwu Esimone, FAS had informed CP Monday Bala Kuryas that the visitation panel was in the state to assess what Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka has been doing in the last 10 years and report back to the federal government because it’s a presidential visitation panel .

Other members of the Visitation Panel included Barr Yakubu Adevange Abbas, Prof Sani Abba Aliyu, Engr Usman Ajibade Nurudden.
Others are Mr Austin Dio Ebimiye, Dr Ben Igwenyi and Mustapha Rasheed , the secretary of the panel.

Later at Awka South Local Government Area Anambra state, the Transition Committee Chairman of the local government area, Hon Leo Nwuba said, Prof Charles Okechukwu Esimone FAS is one of the best Vice Chancellors Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka has had.

Hon Nwuba reminded the visitation panel how excited Igbo nation particularly Anambra state people were when former Head of state, General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida announced the university a federal one and after a respected Nigerian Owelle Nnamdi Azikiwe. He went down memory lane.

www.odogwublog.com further reports that according to UNIZIK’s Head of Information, Media and Public Relations, Mrs Chika Eneh, the Visitation Panel also visited the DSS state command headquarters Awka to commune with the state Commander, Mr Alex Agada. Efforts to get Agada’s views on the visit proved abortive as the DSS officials were unfriendly to the media team attached to the federal government visitation Panel despite all efforts explaining to them.
