Unizik Faculty Election: Presidential Candidate flags off campaign, reassures students of peace

Comrade Igwe Christian, one of the presidential candidates in the upcoming Faculty of Management Sciences presidential election, in Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, has on Monday 10th July, 2023 flagged off his campaign, reassuring that with his emergence, the students shall have peace.

The event which took place at the front of the faculty edifice located close to department of Mass Communication Nnamdi Azikiwe university Awka was attended by students from seven departments that made up the faculty of Management Sciences.

In his campaign speech, Comrade Igwe said: ‘I am coming for a greater and unified FAMASSA(Faculty of Management Science Students Association), selfless service and uncompromised student leadership. So do not listen to sentiments but rather vote for me because I have the interest of the people that am coming to serve at heart. Over the years, there had been disunity in our faculty which has made it impossible for the faculty to progress. There had also been compromised students leadership which made students to lose confidence in the leadership and developed political apathy which has been inimical to the well-being of the Students’ leadership. These are some of the major problems that I have identified so far and the need to address them propelled me to come for this very mission. It is not all about building castle in the air but rather it’s about telling you what I will do and do it in the end.’

Speaking further, Comrade Igwe also revealed to the students that “some of the things that he is doing now are not just for campaign but also to give them a clue of what his administration will do when he becomes the president because he has been doing things of that nature before now, not just for campaign sake”.

He continued: That the condition of the pathway that connects back of the faculty to express that leads to Ifite gate and also potholes at the front of their faculty are some challenges that every student who uses the road and pathway faces. At the front of their faculty, when one alights from bus or keke, it will be hard for one to see where to put leg because of potholes everywhere and sometimes, dirty water from those potholes splashes on Students’ dresses, stains it and forces them to go back home to get another dress. With that, it is enough reason for him to clear the path and fill the potholes.
Moreover, the path at the back of the faculty which he has been cleared is to assist students who do use the path as a result of inability to pay transport fare especially now that there is hike in fuel price.

Finally, he thanked the students and his campaign team and urged them not to relent but rather to keep spreading the good news and keep convincing their colleagues that he is the right man for the job. He also reminded them that they should check for ‘IGWE CHRISTIAN’ on the day of election as there is another contestant who also bears same surname ‘IGWE’ so that they won’t make a costly mistake. That once he wins the election, all the issues that have been identified so far and others not yet mentioned will be made known during their debate within the week shall all be taken care of.
