Unizik Covid-19 team intensifies action

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka COVID-19 committee has intensified action following the second wave of the pandemic.

This is to check the rate of transmission of the deadly Covid-19 viral disease around the university.

A member of the committee and Director Unizik 94.1 fm Awka , Prof. Chinyere Okunna said the committee is set to put the transmission of the second wave of the virus in check, within the university community.

She said, “With the 2nd and more devastating wave of the COVID-19 Pandemic now sweeping across the world, with infection and mortality rates also dangerously rising in Nigeria, the COVID-19 Committee of Nnamdi Azikiwe University has swung into action to safeguard the University Community from the Pandemic.

At its meeting today in the University’s Council/Senate Chambers, it was decided that the Committee will intensify its activities in anticipation of the resumption of academic activities.

“To begin with, the Committee will fully monitor the forthcoming Deanship Elections to ensure full compliance with all COVID-19 Protocols,” she said.

It would be recalled that the committee was long ago set up by the digital Vice Chancellor, Prof Charles Okechukwu Esimone to ensure safety of the university Community during the pandemic.
