UNIZIK: ASOMAS inducts new students, launches N10m worth project

The Association of Mass communication Students (ASOMAS) Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, recently organized an induction ceremony for her new students.

The event took place recently at the auditorium of Mass Communication Department, attracting staff and students of the Department.

At the event, the association launched her N10 million worth project which was geared towards empowering students of the department with some skills that would be helpful to them upon graduation.

In her opening remark, Head of the Department, Prof Stella Uzochukwu, said the annual event was to formally recognize new students as part of the ASOMAS in the institution. “The essence of the induction is to officially welcome and recognize you as members of the ASOMAS in the institution,” she said.

One of the lecturer, Dr Adaobi spoke on building positive relationship between lecturers and the students. She said, “building positive relationship between students triggers motivation and psychologically creates space for learning.”

Earlier, ASOMAS president, Nginikanma Emmanuel introduced the launching of the “project 10 million” which according to him, was aimed at equipping students with diverse skills like tailoring, graphics designs, among others.

At the event, the students were also advised to shun indecent dressing. They were also advised that bad dressing is strictly against the constitution of the department and that it is how one dresses that he is addressed in the society.
