UCKEMORAN conducts seminar for members, praises Soludo’s transport reform

A group under the aegis of United Commercial Keke-Napep And Motorcycle Riders Association of Nigeria (UCKEMORAN) has organised an in-house training for members to inculcate basic guides of operation in the reformed transport sector of the state.

The event which held at Onitsha Holiday Resorts along Onitsha-Asaba expressway featured inauguration of 10 man executives from 21 local Government Area of the state after screening them to work for the association whenever Governor issue directives.

In a address signed by its Chairman, Chief Arunsi Igbaniuka and Secretary general, Comrade Raphael Agu, the body poured encomium on Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s ability to sanitize the transport industry by stopping illegal levies and extortions by touts.

They noted that they have successfully stopped touting activities in the state through the unalloyed committement to the directives of the State Governor, even as they Stated that they have successfully concluded a seminar at Awka after their advocacy campaign in the three senatorial zones of the state.

They said essence of the seminar was to educate members on the importance of tax payment and the new technology-driven mode of collecting Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in the state.

A resource person, Hon. Emeka Nwaro admonished the members of the association to learn how to treat their clients (passengers), regretting that some of the Keke riders insults passengers who they have never met before.

According to him, ” We have lectured them on moral values and conduct  as well  screened them because some of them were not found worthy to belong to the Association  and we would not allow any thing the Governor would not tolerate to be found among Keke operators.

He also said many of them failed screening test and were ejected from the association due to their questionable characters. He urged the others to embrace humility, sincerity, obedience, truthful among others in their daily living.

Speaking to newsmen, the Chairman of the Association, Chief Arunsi Igbaniuka expressed delights for the successful event, reiterating that Governor Soludo has done great by banning touts and Agboro.

He appealed to Anambra State government to endorse their Association especially now that they have screened their leaders, conducted seminar for their drivers and chased away Agberos and touts from roads.

“Any of our members found in any criminal activities should be handed over to security agencies without waiting for government. We will pay our tax and revenue and support any government programme in the state,” Igbaniuka pledged.
