Tribunal upholds election of Hon Osita Ngwu as Enugu West senator,….sacks Hon. Omeha as Rep(Udi/Ezeagu fed.Constituency)

The Enugu state National Assembly petition tribunal has ratified Senator Osita Ngwu,as duly elected to represent Enugu West senatorial zone in the National Assembly.
It described the petition pleading other wise by counsel to Hon.Canice Oguerinwa as lacking merit.Oguerinwa,the Labour party candidate in the election had asked the tribunal to declare him as the winner of the election,with allegations of manipulation and padding of votes in some wards to Senator Ngwu.
Similarly on Monday, the tribunal rejected the plea by the APC candidate in the Enugu West senatorial contest,Prof.Nick Ezeh,to upstage Senator Ngwu.
In another development,the Labour party in Enugu state suffered another lose in the tribunal,as the tribunal declared PDP candidate,Mr Festus Uzor, the winner of Udi/Ezeagu federal constituency election,against Hon Celestine Omeha of Labour party,already sworn in.
The panel led by A.M Abubakar declared Dr. Festus Uzor of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP as the Winner of the February 25th poll.
Justice Abubakar while ruling on the petition by Dr. Uzor, averred that Omeha didn’t properly resign from the PDP before seeking the ticket of the Labour Party.
The panel also held that even the purported resignation letter by Barr. Omeha was signed by someone that’s no longer a leader of the PDP.
Justice Abubakar thereafter, directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to issue certificate of return to Dr. Uzor.
It would be recalled that the Justice Abubakar led Enugu House Rep election petition tribunal had declared Prince Cornelius Nnaji(PDP) as the winner of Enugu East
/Isi Uzo federal constituency against Prof.Sunday Nnamchi(LP),already sworn in.It also declared Engr.Dr.Anayo Onwuegbu(PDP) as the authentic winner of Aninri/Awgu/Oji River federal constituency,stating that Engr.Chijioke Okereke(LP)is not a candidate in the election since his name did not appear in INEC published result sheet.
