Trader remanded for allegedly defiling neighbour’s 10 years old daughter

An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, remanded a 42-year-old trader, Shaibu Salisu, who allegedly defiled his neighbour’s 10-year-old daughter.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.M. Ajayi,  did not take Salisu’s plea, but ordered his remand at the  Kirikiri Correctional Centre.

She directed  that the case file shouid be sent to Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions for advice.

Ajayi adjourned the case until May 11 for mention.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Salisu, who resides at Mile 12 area of Lagos State, is facing a count charge of defilement.

According to the prosecutor, Insp Donjour Perezi,  the defendant committed the offence on March 28 at his residence.

Perezi said that the defendant had canal knowledge of the minor, contrary to Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

“The defendant lured the girl under a staircase and had sexual intercourse with her.

“He was caught by a neighbour and handed over to the police,” the prosecutor said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, provides for up to life imprisonment for defilement. (NAN)
