Tiger foods: Ebubeogu explains how innovation moved “Mama Put” to production

The Managing Director of Tiger Foods Ltd,  Onitsha, Mr. Don Ebubeogu has narrated how a dream to add value to what was on the ground catapulted him into producing a food chain of over 20 products.

Ebubeogu narrated his experience to journalists who were led by the chairman of Anambra State Council of Nigeria Union Of Journalists (NUJ) Dr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu on a facility tour of his factor located in Onitsha as part of this year’s Press Week. 

He said in the course of time, he realised that there were gaps that when explored would enhance the economy of the South East region and Nigeria at large and he moved to fill them.

Journalists on tour of the factory realised that the company produces a wide range of food seasonings and Tiger brand of drinks.

He recounted numerous roadblocks he encountered on his way to establishing himself saying that despite the daunting challenges choking manufacturing in Nigeria such as forex, power supply, and the likes, South East is blessed with enormous gains for production.

He said: “Watching over 80% fully loaded trucks coming into south East from Bridge Head daily and going back empty should open the eyes of people to realize the gap that should be explored to enhance the economy of the zone.

“For us at Tiger Foods, we don’t dwell on those challenges, but we look.at opportunities and enormous gains in the South East and that has helped us in advancement and business expansion”

Mr Ebubeogu whose company recently added Mayonnaise to it’s line of products said the company is enjoying patronage of Nigerian market and beyond.

His products, he said are exported to several West African countries and currently making inroads to Europe and America from where he just returned after a presentation of his products.

In his remarks, the chairman of NUJ, Anambra State Council, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu commended Tiger Foods management for weathering the storm of instability in the economy and putting Anambra state in a position of envy on the production map of Nigeria.

He said that Tiger Foods Ltd stands tall in adding value to Anambra state economy and youth development.

Earlier in her speech, the chairperson NUJ Anambra state 2023 Press Week, Dr Njideka Ezeonyejiaku explained that Press Week is a period set aside for journalists to celebrate themselves and interact with other segments of the society.

She said it is also a time to remind journalists of their roles and responsibilities as watchdogs of society.
