Teachers Urged to make integrity national way of life at ABEN Conference

Lawrence Chuwudike Nwimo writes that Teachers have been charged to make integrity and uprightness their watchword in the discharge of duties at  various levels.

This was contained in a communique released by the National president of the Association of Business Educators of Nigeria (ABEN) Prof. C.M. Ile at the 21st Annual National Conference adding that since honesty and ethics are indispensable to societal growth, all business practitioners, teachers and indeed, all members of society should endeavour to make integrity their national way of life.


The conference which held at Delta state University, Abraka noted with dismay the practice of selling grades for sex and monetary inducements and calls on lecturers to deal with students professionally.

Speaking on the resolutions made at the conference, he said the Association  has discovered the inadequacy in the quantum of new technologies in tertiary institutions and calls on institutions and relevant regulatory bodies to provide the new technologies needed for effective teaching and learning in Business Education.


He also said that that there exists inconsistency in the Business Education curriculum and calls on relevant agencies to involve the Association of Business Educators of Nigeria (ABEN) and industry in regular review of the Business Education curriculum.


He lauded the efforts being made by the federal government to improve teaching and learning facilities and human capital growth through TETFUND in tertiary institutions and the government of Delta state for the good work it is doing in the education sector as well as the management of Delta State University, Abraka for the attention it is paying to Business Education Programme.
