Transmission company installs optical wire, SCADA in Benin

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), says  its contractors will begin the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) along the Benin-Ihovbor transmission lines.

The company also said that it would begin the  rehabilitation of  Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system in its Benin transmission network from Friday  to Sunday.

Mrs Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager Public Affairs said this in a statement in Abuja on Thursday.

Mbah said that  due to the installation,  there would be power interruption for five hours from 9 a. m. to 2 p. m. on the said days to create a safe working environment for the contractors.

“During the period, Benin  Distribution Company  will be unable to offtake power from the following feeders for onward distribution to its customers.

These areas  include, Egor, 33 Kilo Volt (kV), Evbuotubu, 33kV; GRA, 11kV; Commercial, GRA 33kV;  Ihama, 11kV; Ugbor, 11kV; Dumez, 11kV; Oluku, 33kV; Uwelu, 11kV; Iguosa, 11kV;, lyowa, 11kV, and Oluku 11kV feeders.

”We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this will cause  consumers that are supplied electricity by Benin Distribution Company from the affected feeders.”

Mbah said that the installation was a necessity as they would contribute to grid stability.
