SON Destroys Substandard Goods Worth Billions
The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has destroyed billions of naira worth of substandard imported tyres, cables, steel doors, and spark plugs that failed to meet national safety standards.
Director-General Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke said the move underscores SON’s commitment to protecting consumers and removing dangerous products from the market. He emphasized that expired or poorly stored tyres can cause fatal accidents and urged the public to report infractions.
