Anambra Government Holds Free Medical Services For Okpoko Residents
Thousands of residents of Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State have benefited from a one-day free medical laboratory outreach being organized by the Anambra State Government in collaboration with Bloom Public Health.
Speaking to journalists after monitoring the free medical laboratory services held at Okpoko General Hospital, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health, Dr. Obiageli Uchebo, explained that the initiative is designed to bring healthcare services closer to people in hard-to-reach areas, help them to detect diseases early, and access better treatment.
Dr. Uchebo also revealed that the Soludo-led administration has put in place the Anambra State Laboratory Optimized Project (ASLOP) at the facility and a few hospitals in the state in partnership with Bloom Public Health, aimed at bringing laboratory services closer to Anambra residents at a much cheaper rate. She later toured various sections of Okpoko General Hospital and commended the staff and management for being alive to their responsibilities.
Some of the beneficiaries of the free medical laboratory services, Mr. Chijioke Onyekeezie and Mrs. Nkiru Ezebuilo, commended the Anambra State Government for providing them with laboratory services free of charge and for establishing the general hospital, which they said is meeting their health needs.
On his part, the Hospital Administrator of the State Hospital Management Board, Anambra State, Dr. Frank Ifeaneme, noted that the Anambra State Laboratory Optimized Project is meant for people to know their health status and advised Anambra residents to take advantage of the project to detect diseases early and treat them better.
An indigene of Ebonyi State, Mrs. Ginika Igwe, who delivered a bouncing baby girl free of charge at Okpoko General Hospital, praised Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his kind gesture.
