GOV. SOLUDO RECEIVES, COMMENDS ANAMBRA STATE EDUCATIONAL ADVISORY COUNCIL REPORT ON EDUCATION

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has received and commended the Anambra State Educational Advisory Council report on education targeted to unveil suitable pathways to world class education in the state.

Receiving the report from the Committee Vice Chairman Chief Osita Chidoka who worked tirelessly with Prof. Ngozi Udeh the State Commissioner for Education who acted as the Secretary of the committee as well as other 18 members in government house Awka last week, Gov. Soludo who described the report as apt, excellent, innovative, directed an immediate implementation of key recommendations of the report which includes introduction of a new model for public schools in line with administration vision of free and qualitative education already existing in all public schools which had already set a new standard for school inspection, supervision as well as developing a strategy for grading and ranking schools across the state.

Earlier Osita Chidoka while handing over the report to the Governor had highlighted the committee recommendations to includes (1) A new funding mechanism that will involve community participation, setting up of an education trust fund, improves funding for teachers recruitment and training (2) Repositioning of the state multiple education platforms into a single technology platform capable of providing students, parents, inspectors and teachers access to information training, videos, students results, performance data across all metrics.

(3) Re-designing of schools inspection, supervision frame work to enable grading and ranking of all schools in the state along preset criteria like quality of infrastructures, performances in state standardized test learning outcomes, students performance in National Examinations, Teachers qualifications, attendance and performance. (4) Aligning the state aspirations with global standard by joining the Programme for International Student’s Assessment (PISA) among others.

Newsmen gathered that the Council was supported by Chief Osita Chidoka Network of Volunteers across the country under the Unlock Naija and Chidoka Topfans Platforms who reviewed countries with functional educational standard across the five continents which helped them to provide invaluable insights to the report.
