SOLUDO, IBEZIM BEGIN NEW FOUR-YEAR TENURE IN ANAMBRA

The colourful event included a ceremonial parade and drew an array of distinguished guests from across Nigeria and beyond.

Chukwuma Charles Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, have formally commenced another four-year tenure after taking the oath of office at the Alex Ekwueme Square.

The colourful event included a ceremonial parade and drew an array of distinguished guests from across Nigeria and beyond. Among those present were former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, alongside clerics, traditional leaders, and Presidents-General representing different communities.

Delivering his address, Governor Soludo expressed appreciation to citizens for their financial backing and moral encouragement during the electioneering period, describing the support as a strong endorsement of the vision he calls the “Anambra Project.” He emphasized that the era of politicking was over and that the business of governance must now take center stage.

Highlighting his administration’s roadmap, the governor explained that the Anambra Development Strategy remains the state’s central blueprint for sustainable progress, anchored on long-term planning and systematic execution.

He reiterated his government’s guiding philosophy of unity and shared purpose, captured in the mantra: one state, one people, one agenda.
Reflecting on his first term, Soludo noted that his government concentrated on laying solid foundations across five major development pillars, stressing that measurable progress was achieved without resorting to commercial bank loans.

Looking ahead, he announced that the new administration would shift into what he termed “Gear Four,” a phase focused on consolidating reforms, strengthening institutions, and preparing a better future for the younger generation.

Security and steady electricity supply, he said, will continue to receive urgent attention as key drivers of economic stability and public welfare.

Governor Soludo also voiced optimism in the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence in the Federal Government’s commitment to national growth and the development of the Southeast. He, however, stressed that meaningful transformation requires joint efforts between government and the people.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Kashim Shettima praised Soludo’s governance style, noting his emphasis on democratic progress above partisan interests.

According to Shettima, the renewed mandate given to the administration reflects the people’s trust in capable leadership. He added that the second term should be seen as a period demanding greater accountability and service, rather than a mere extension of past achievements.
