The Archbishop of Onitsha and Metropolitan of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, His Grace, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke has disclosed that Shanahan University would be affordable and would offer Scholarship to inmates after completion

Archbishop Okeke who doubles as the proprietor of Shanahan University made the disclosure at the Onitsha Correctional Centre while responding to the appeal made to him by the Anambra State Controller of Prison, Joseph Usifo.

Usifo had in his appeal urged Archbishop Okeke to grant Correctional Centre opportunity to be annexed to Shanahan University, saying that the inmates would benefit more in the University than National Open University which he said was their initial arrangements to partner with.

He, however, appreciated the Archbishop for his developmental stride in the Onitsha Correctional Center which he explained that even the honour of Grand Patron of the Nigerian Correctional Center given to Archbishop Okeke is not enough to compare his achievements in the Correctional Center.

Responding, Archbishop Okeke said that the demand made by the prison boss is possible, stressing that he would look into it and possible logistics, soliciting for prayers for the speedy completion of the University.

He expounded that Shanahan University would be the best University in the whole world and more affordable after its completion, revealing that private Universities nowadays are so exorbitant.

He added that after completing the University, it would be subsidized  like Youths Village school, saying that the school was built to standard with facilities and amenities, but very affordable more than other schools built in Awka.

” We can even give Scholarship in the Shanahan University to those who graduated from the Correctional Center. It would be easier for them to go further in education. When we finish it, it will be one of the glory of Onitsha so that Onitsha as a City can not be only known for buying and selling. It would be also known as University town. Join us in prayer so that we could finish it” Said Archbishop Okeke.

Earlier in his homily, Archbishop Okeke noted that Christmas is a reminder to the people of God on how God planned to save mankind through Jesus Christ, dwelling extensively to the tribulations and sufferings of parents of Jesus Christ to save Him from the hand of King Herod.
