By Oguocha Chukwuebuka

In a decisive victory that reaffirmed his political strength and APGA’s grip on Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo has been declared winner of the November 8, 2025 governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The announcement was made on Sunday at INEC’s state headquarters in Awka by the Returning Officer, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, who also serves as Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin. According to official figures, Soludo secured a commanding lead with 422,664 votes, leaving his closest challenger, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), trailing with 99,445 votes. Sir Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) followed with 37,753 votes.
INEC confirmed that Soludo emerged victorious across all 21 Local Government Areas of the state, a clean sweep that underscores his widespread support.
Of the 2,788,864 registered voters in Anambra, 598,229 were accredited to vote. A total of 595,298 votes were cast, with 584,054 deemed valid and 11,244 rejected.
While isolated incidents led to the cancellation of results in parts of Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South, Prof. Omoregie clarified that the margin of lead far exceeded the number of affected votes, rendering the cancellations inconsequential to the final outcome.
“The process was largely peaceful and transparentHaving met all legal requirements and secured the highest number of valid votes, I hereby declare Chukwuma Soludo of APGA duly elected as Governor of Anambra State.”
This victory marks Soludo’s re-election for a second term, further entrenching APGA’s dominance in the state’s political landscape and setting the stage for continuity in governance.
