Senator Ifeanyi Ubah Donates 14 Vehicles, 40 Motorcycles, Others To Fight Insecurity in Anambra

The current wave of insecurity in the country, especially in Anambra state, has attracted sympathy of the senator representing Anambra South senatorial district, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah.

The ranking senator, on Sunday, May 21, donated 14 vehicles, 40 motorcycles, 500 walkie talkie, as well as torchlight and matchets worth millions of naira to vigilante operatives in Nnewi, Nnewi North local government area of the state, to help boost security services in the area.

Senator Ubah has invested much in security in Anambra state, yet, his interest in security of lives and property increased after his convoy was attacked in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka local government area, sometime in 2022.

The ceremony held at the popular Ifeanyi Ubah International Stadium in Nnewi, attracted security agencies, as well as security chiefs in their various capacities.

Speaking at the event, Senator Ubah said that his most important motivation in providing security gadgets and vehicles is to help vigilante to function optimally.

He said, “Security is very important in life, and to secure my people is important to me. If we don’t have security in Anambra state, things cannot change for the better. This is why we’re working very hard to upgrade on facilities the security agencies have.”

He called on spirited individuals to support government in the area of security; saying that with more efforts on the parts of government and other individuals, Anambra and it’s environs will be safer.

Speaking, Governor Charles Soludo thanked Senator Ubah for his efforts in giving a boost to security in the state.

Represented by the Hon. Commissioner for Homeland Affairs, Chief Chikodi Anarah, the Anambra governor said, “This is a way to be a senator, and I want other senators to think and do the same way. It is only when an environment is secured that other things can work.”

The governor noted that Anambra is not a place to engage in crime; warning that no criminal will find the state comfortable to reside in henceforth.

He said, “If you’re a criminal and choses to stay in Anambra, it will be very hot for you – the bushes and forests, waterways, and other places will not be habitable for you.

“All of you living in the bush, terrorizing citizens, we’re giving you an opportunity to leave the place, and repent. If you have any reservations, channel it appropriately; because, our people must sleep with their two eyes closed.”

Special Adviser to Governor Charles Soludo on Security, Air Vice Marshall Ben Chiobi (Rtf), also commended Senator Ubah’s gesture, and said that efforts in curbing security must not come from government alone, but also from illustrious sons and daughters of the state.

The President-General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi, Chief Maduka Atuenyi, called on the community vigilante operatives, who benefited from the gesture to put more efforts in securing lives and property; saying that he to whom much is given, much is also expected.

Atuenyi, who is also the chief security officer of the community, assured that Senator Ubah’s gesture would help in no small measure in fighting crime and criminality.
