Suspected cultists in Diobu, Port Harcourt City Local Council, yesterday, shot the mother of a former Councillor of the council, known as Endurance, over non-payment of money allocated to them for election.

The cultists yesterday morning accosted the ex-councillor at Egede Street, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt, accusing him of refusing to pay their “election security money’ to them.

This caused chaos as the ex-councilor insisted that he had no money to give to them.

The irate cultists who got offended by the utterances of the ex-councillor went berserk as they started throwing bottles into his compound.

The eyewitness further disclosed that Mr. Endurance ran into his house after he noticed that tension had heightened but the infuriated cultists opened fire on him.

Endurance, however, narrowly escaped the bullets shot at him, but his mother was hit by it  and was rushed to the hospital.
