Respect Court Order In The Interest Of Your Communities – Anambra Assembly Urges Abba, Ukpo

Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Petitions and Conflict Resolution has advised Ukpo and Abba communities involved in land dispute to abide by the courts judgment and report of the Administrative Panel of Inquiry that sat over the matter in the interest of peace.

The Committee gave the advice when both parties appeared before it over the case at Conference Hall of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Awka.

After reading the petition brought before the committee by Abba Community and reply from Ukpo community, the Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Emeka Aforka explained that since the matter has been considered by competent courts of law and the Administrative Panel of Inquiry set up by the state government for the matter, recourse should be made to the courts judgments and report of the panel.

The Committee urged them to also adopt dialogue as alternative dispute resolution in resolving the case in the interest of both communities.

In a vote of thanks, the Transition Committee Chairman, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Mr. Emeka Okonkwo, who was an observer, thanked the Committee for doing justice to the issue.

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman, Njikoka Local Government Area, Mr. George Ozor, who also witnessed the meeting, advised the Communities to heed to the advice of the Committee and end the lingering land dispute.
