Residents, Traders, stake holders has appeals to Gov. Soludo to urgently call the transition chairman of Onitsha South LGA Mr. Emeka Orji to order noting that his excess abuses of powers is adversely affecting the image of the state government which is contrary to ideals and vision of Gov. Soludo whom they described as an accomplished administrator, humble, peace loving academician.

Speaking to newsmen on heels of these developments as well as following the recent arbitrary demolition of a business PLAZA “UPJA PLAZA” built by UPJA planks traders union of bridgehead market Onitsha on which the traders took the transition chairman to Court, Bar. Said the legal practitioner, “Gov. Soludo should act now and rescue the people, I am very sure that he is not aware of this excess rascality of his appointee. What Emeka Orji is doing in Onitsha South and markets in the council area has no blessing of the governor that I am sure, Orji and his cohorts without notice to traders of UPJA Head bridge and without following due process of law had gone into the market and maliciously pulled down the plaza built by traders, traders went to Court in connection with the destruction but up till now Orji has never responded to notices sent to him including the pre-action notice on the matter. Orji in demolition, wickedly destroyed all the traders goods in the warehouse, carted them as debris and sold them off. When the case came up for hearing on March 5th 2024, instead of coming to Court, he went inside the market to further mark additional stores for demolition which is impunity at its peak”.

The Legal Practitioner while saying that the transition chairman is witch-hunting the traders because they went to court to challenge his action of destroying their plaza, he stated that often times he used to wonder what have these poor traders did in their fathers land to warrant such a wicked and barbaric action of demolishing their source of income adding that these shops which traders built are not illegal structures as they are shops generating revenues for the state government.

Reacting to this when contacted, Mr. Paul Onuachara the secretary of Onitsha South LGA who spoke on behalf of the transition chairman Hon. Emeka Orji told newsmen that what the traders was saying is not the truth but that they are trying to be mischievous adding that those stores marked for demolition were built under the high tension but did not said anything concerning the demolished plaza.
