Residents Cry Out Over Condition Of Major Road in Anambra

Indigenes and residents of Oba community in Idemili South local government area has called on Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state to make good his promise of constructing Umuoji-Oba-Akwuukwu road.

The plea was made last weekend during the burial of Chief Godson Udoh Egbenadiji, a cabinet member of Igwe Eze Okpoko Oba.

The Umuoji-Oba-Akwuukwu road was in a sorry state as condolence visitors drove to the burial which attracted the high and mighty from across the state.

While receiving dignitaries, another cabinet member, Chief Benneth Igbalueogige taunted the visitor political heavyweights around on the deplorable state of the road, saying “I wished that your motorcade got stuck in this road while coming to this place, perhaps it will provoke you people in government to expedite work on this road that has become unpassable.”

Oba political forum chairman, Ogonna Ndozie, said that the abandoned road remained the major access road used by over 90 percent of Oba residents. “Oba people voted for Obiano during his first and second tenure elections. We plead with him to rescue us by completing this road abandoned by contractors as he promised”, he said.

The transition councilor of Oba Ward 1, Ebuka Chibueze, assured that nothing will stop the completion of the road.
